Here's the video to practice to while I'm away this week.
Play along with this video by only playing the one note from the A major scale when I play it in the scale.

Remember, the A major scale is on the A string
(1  2  34  5  6  71!)

This video features Chris Aiello on the Alto Saxophone and Intermission Music.

Moved in! 04/21/2011

It's been a hectic time of change. I've moved and I'm very happy with my new place. There are still things to take care of but the process of taking care of them while going along is fun, easy, and relaxed.

I've added new dates to the calendar. I've also made live performances a different color than the regular teaching work schedule. So check out the Calendar section for some new dates that are posted.

I've also published some testimonials from students. You can find those kind words in the About section. Thanks to Mark, James and Neerav for sharing!

If you are not Mark, James or Neerav, and you want to say some things but haven't, you still can in the Words section.

Other than that, I've been working on new music, which you can check out at the Upcoming Office Party at Clifton's one and only Clash Bar.

Am I leaving anything out? Yes.

Hey there!

I'm making an effort to collect testimonials from my current/past students. I'd like to hear your healthy feedback about your learning experiences. My intentions are to then share what you have to say on this site, with your permission. I want to give future students the right idea about studying with me and I'm hoping you can help.

If you want to contribute some words, there's a link up top that reads 'Words' and that would be the place to do it.

I very much appreciate anything you would have to say on the matter.

I started a new Video Series about learning the basics of music in a way that's... well... basic. Its stripped down to its essentials and based off of my own teaching techniques and I hope that people use it to simplify and streamline their thinking about music.

I've named the vid series The Rihgt Way! as in "Learn Music The Rihgt Way!"

I hope that you see the humor in this as well as my intentions.

The first video is about The Major Scale because that's a great place to start!

Also in my considerations are future videos including deeper explorations into the major scale, other scales, rhythm, as well as stretching and breathing exercises some folks might call yoga.

Imagine that... "Learn Yoga The Rihgt Way!" Maybe I won't include it under that umbrella.

Feel free to share it and the others that follow with those that might find them useful.

Soooooo! I'm playiiiiiiiing!

Let me tell you where. First things first, if you're reading this and you came out to see NNNNN.! at either local 269 or Rivara's; thanks for coming. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

The band is sounding progressively better now that we rehearse regularly.

And we're playing thursday, march 3rd, at the Lamp post in Jersey City, following the super Ultra Death Men at about 10 pm or so -- you know how these things go. We start early! Get there early!

Also, at Trash Bar in bklyn, I'm playing with pop-rock-shoegaze sultry singing sensation Jett Brando. There'll be some great tunes played. Come out if you're around. Also at about 10 or so, but we start early! Get there early!

Aside from that, there's a pretty positive chance that we (Shea Collins Band and NNNNN.!) will be playing at the Stanhope House, right around when Julius Caesar was assassinated. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

these places are here

So I'm stealing this idea from you, Eric Barry Drasin.

Eric was tossing around the idea of a certain website with a really catchy name (that shall remain hidden) all about collecting and sharing great ideas you'll never actualize in the real world.

Of course this is something he was never going to actualize in the real world. The irony continues:

What I'm presenting here is a forum for us, by and of ourselves, to share good ideas that could and perhaps even should find actualization in our world and experience.

I think that we all want to do cool things and work together, so here: let's brainstorm some ideas and create some real opportunity for us to do cool things and work together.

Can we start?

Goodness Gracious! Yes it is!

I recently came into this, a wonderfully produced 5 track EP featuring the wonderful singing/songwriting talents of one Mr. Frank Hauch.

I don't know what to say about it really, except that Its quite good and I've been listening to it repeatedly recently. Also, its quite good at high volumes, and especially good for listening while you're driving somewhere, or while you're trying to get some work done around the house or on a computer.

I could spend some time describing this wonderful work, giving you some stylistic frame of reference, but why when you can download it for free right here?

Instead I would say that Mr. Hauch is exceptionally good at what he does, as are the other kind folks in the band playing their instruments and such. You may have by now noticed that I'm playing guitar on this EP, so my comments here are directed to the other kind folks in the band playing their instruments and such.

So, Frank, Quinn, Max, and Graham; thank you. It sounds great, and I'm proud and grateful to have taken part.

Yesterday's Yoga for Kittens charity class was a great success! I'd like to thank so much those for attending and giving to the Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society, for whom we were able to raise $119 plus a whole trunk full of supplies and food! I'm deeply grateful and honored to have spent the time I did with those who gave, because we did make a difference and I can't wait to do it again!

So in the spirit of the recent holiday, thank you very much and I hope to see you soon.

Hello and welcome!

Today I launch my new site! With it I hope to supply an easy tool for sharing work I either do or support. So here's what's going on.

Today, my younger sister Ariel Sabaj will be performing solo at The Pantry Party at the Wayne Firehouse, 8pm. I'm excited. She has a beautiful talent, a beautiful soul, and I'm happy that she's doing something with it! If you're around, you should check it out. $10 or 10 cans of food to get in and all proceeds go towards local food pantries, so its a good cause. Check it out!

Also! This weekend I'll be recording some new songs in the studio with Waking Lights (emphasis on the WA). There are some new songs we'll be recording for imminent release! So make certain to be on the lookout for that!

Also also! The sunday after thanksgiving, I'll be teaching a yoga class from 12:30pm - 2pm to raise funds for the Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society. More info can be found here!

I've also also also started a series of videos on the topic of alternate picking on my youtube account, so feel free to check that out.

Aside from that, I'm teaching, playing, and practicing. Hope to see you around.

Welcome to the new site! I'm rebuilding it to better suit my evolving needs and vision. It's a new direction in things. So i'm working on it!
